Twelve Tastes of Christmas

Today marks the twelfth day before Christmas. Just think only twelve more days to get your festive meal plans in order and the gifts all wrapped and under the tree. Yikes! We’ve decided to have a little fun this year and created the Twelve Tastes of Christmas, twelve things to make your gift giving easy yet impressive and your festive meal exceptional.

1. CIPM Red Fife wheat – the prefect gift for the baker on your list. They will appreciate the fresh milled flour, full of nutty goodness. And it has a long standing Canadian heritage . See Edible Toronto Summer 2008 article for more on the history of Red Fife Flour >>>

2. Boreal Birch syrup –a savoury syrup perfect as a glaze for lamb or ham on your festive table

3. Culinarium’s own Apple Cider Rosemary Peppercorn jelly – handmade on site with local apples and Avalon Apple Cider – don’t serve cheese or pate without it!

4. Ver Jus – a wonderful hostess gift for the mom to be or non-drinker in your life. Mix with soda water and they have an instant toasting beverage.  It’s also good as a vinegar replacement for a less acidic flavour agent.

5. Chocolate covered cranberries – need we say more? In both dark and white chocolate.

6. Niagara Gold Cheese – buttery, nutty, smooth, totally yummy and a great crowd pleaser; the perfect addition to any cheese platter.

7. JC Nyman dark maple syrup – exclusive to Culinarium, this is maple syrup for the true maple lover. Smokey, smooth and three times the flavour of  traditional amber syrup that we all grew up on.

8.  Dried cranberries  and cherries – with less sugar than grocery store brands, you can really taste the fruit. A perfect for a festive substitute for raisins in muffins, quick breads and shortbread cookies, and wonderful on a cheese plate or in a salad with goat cheese and nuts.

9. Coach House shortbread – truly the best shortbread we’ve ever had and beautifully packaged in a “festive cracker” format to make a fabulous addition to a gift basket or a stand alone hostess gift

10. Pristine Gourmet – Cold pressed Canola and Soy oils. With all the same good fat content as olive oil these local oils are a great addition to any cooks pantry.

11. Millpond Fruit Butter: made the traditional way with all natural ingredients, and Ontario fruit and honey.  Not just for toast, but delicious with cheese, meats or pate too.

12. Clovermead Apiaries Honey: exclusive to Culinarium folks tells us all the time that is it some of the best honey they’ve ever had. Try Wild Blueberry, Golden Rod or the ever popular cinnamon honey.
